How it works?

Super IPL gently heats up the hair follicles to destroy them. Usually 6 to 8 sessions are required spaced 4 weeks apart in order to treat the hair during its growth phase (anagen).

The results are permanent but in some cases hormonal changes may affect future hair growth i.e. menopause, giving birth or medicated conditions e.g. diabetes and thyroid dysfunction.

Who is suitable for this treatment?

All skin types are suitable for this treatment but hair that has pigment has the most success to be removed permanently. Hair that is blonde, light red, white or light grey can be treated but will take longer and may not have full removal of all hairs.

---

What you will feel?

Laser treatments are non-invasive and can be administered during a lunch hour with colleagues and friends being none the wiser. You will experience a heat sensation no more painful than waxing. After a few weeks the body pushes the dead roots out of the skin.

---

Why do hairs appear to grow after the treatment?

After the treatment the hairs must be left alone. The heat kills the hair but the hair remains in the follicle and often become attached the the surface skin. These hairs will shed over a 1-3 week period. They are not growing they are being pushed out.

The area can be shaved 4 days after the treatment, gentle exfoliation of the area will encourage the shedding process.

How to prepare for treatment?

The roots must be intact for the treatment to work so no waxing or epilating before or during a course of treatments. The area must be shaved a day before your session. You cannot have treatment if you have a deep natural tan or fake tan because this can cause the skin to blister.

---

What to expect

The heat sensation varies from client to client depending on the amount of pigment found in the skin.

A mild redness is expected after the treatment and is a good sign the treatment has worked.

Pigmentation will initially turn darker and then a crusting will appear which must shed naturally up to 10 days after the treatment.

1-6 treatments are required at a 4 week interval for the best results. Top up treatments may be needed to maintain the results.
